Clean.
The Justification
Failure to properly clean
oxygen system components substantially increases potential
for fire, explosion, and an adiabatic compression - a rapid
rise in temperature and subsequent explosion - within a gas
piping system that occurs when compressed oxygen comes in
contact with foreign particles or incompatible materials.
In
short, this process is needed so your piping system does not
explode.

Cleaning Redefined
"Oxygen
Cleaning" is industry short-hand for "Cleaned for
Oxygen Service". This cleaning removes oil, grease,
paint, varnish, mill-scale, particulates, as well as organic
and inorganic contaminants. Particulate matter can be
anywhere within the piping system, so every part of it must
be cleaned - pipe, valves, check valves, fittings, manifolds
- everything.
